Serving as a Deacon at The Beloved Community at The Trees

Serving as a deacon at The Beloved Community is one of the most grounding and meaningful parts of my life. It’s a role that constantly reminds me that service is not just something we do—it’s something we become. Every week, I get to witness quiet miracles: people showing up for one another, offering kindness when it’s least expected, healing, and finding hope in places where hope once felt thin.

As a deacon, I feel both humbled and energized. Humbled, because I’m entrusted with walking alongside people through their joys, struggles, questions, and growth. Energized, because each interaction—whether a conversation over coffee, a shared meal, prayer, or a moment of listening—strengthens my sense of purpose of loving God and my neighbor.

The Beloved Community isn’t just a place; it’s a living vision. It asks me to show up with compassion, courage, and an open heart. And in serving, I find myself continually shaped by the love and resilience of those around me. It’s not always easy, but it is always worth it. Serving here reminds me daily that we belong to one another—and that, in itself, is sacred.

Faithfully submitted,

Deacon Dan
